Die Batsheva Dance Company wurde 1964 von Martha Graham in Israel gegründet - seit 1990 setzt Ohad Naharin mit einem herausragenden Ensemble künstlerische Maßstäbe. Für Naharin sind es besonders die Tänzer mit ihren individuellen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten, die im Zentrum der choreographischen Arbeit stehen. Mit unfehlbarem Gespür für Rhythmus und Timing lädt er seine Tanzkompositionen, die voller überraschender Gegensätze stecken, mit emotionaler Hochspannung auf.

Die Begeisterung war groß, als im Sommer 1996 das Hebbel-Theater in Kooperation mit der damaligen Daimler-Benz AG die spektakuläre Produktion "Anaphase" vor mehr als 4500 Zuschauern auf der größten Baustelle Europas zeigte: dem Potsdamer Platz. "Anaphase" entstand anläßlich des 30jährigen Jubiläums der renommierten israelischen Tanzkompanie und wurde auf dem Israel Festival in Jerusalem uraufgeführt.

The Batsheva Dance Company was founded by Martha Graham in 1964. Since 1990, Ohad Naharin has set artistic standards with this outstanding ensemble. Naharin's choreographic work is focussed in particular on the dancers themselves and their individual expressive capacities. With an unerring feel for rhythm and timing, Naharin fills his dance compositions with surprising oppositions and charges them with great emotional suspense.

There was great enthusiasm in the summer of 1996 when the Hebbel-Theater, in cooperation with the former Daimler-Benz AG, presented the spectacular production "Anaphase" in front of more than 4500 spectators at Potsdamer Platz, the largest construction site in Europe. "Anaphase" was developed in honor of the 30th anniversary of this renowned Israeli dance company and was originally performed at the Israel Festival in Jerusalem.
